We are about to embark upon a highly technical and immensely rewarding project. This design requires strict adherence to our blueprint. The innocence of our sprite relies entirely on the geometry of her stitches. If you respect the mathematics of the yarn, the result will be undeniably professional. Let us begin.
About This Creation
This woodland sprite and her loyal fox companion represent the absolute pinnacle of character shaping. We are intentionally engineering a 70/30 head-to-body ratio to evoke a profound sense of youth.
Observe the cheeks. We do not simply increase evenly and hope for a rounded face. Hope is not a technique. Instead, we force the fabric outward using concentrated, asymmetrical increases strictly in the lower front quadrants. This builds a sculpted shelf of yarn precisely where the cheeks must sit. Paired with wide-set eyes, the character’s gentle gaze is guaranteed. There are no sharp angles here. Only soft, continuous curves.

The Pattern
The Sprite’s Head
We begin at the crown. Pull your stitches tightly.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR. (6)
Round 2: 6 inc. (12)
Round 3: [1 sc, inc] x 6. (18)
Round 4: [2 sc, inc] x 6. (24)
Round 5: [3 sc, inc] x 6. (30)
Round 6: [4 sc, inc] x 6. (36)
Round 7: [5 sc, inc] x 6. (42)
Round 8: [6 sc, inc] x 6. (48)
Rounds 9-14: 48 sc. (48)
Place safety eyes precisely between Rounds 14 and 15. Count exactly 9 stitches between them. This spacing is non-negotiable for the proper expression.
Round 15: 12 sc, [inc] x 6, 12 sc, [inc] x 6, 12 sc. (60)
You have just engineered the cheekbones. The concentrated increases sit directly below the outer edges of the eyes.
Rounds 16-18: 60 sc. (60)
Round 19: 12 sc, [dec] x 6, 12 sc, [dec] x 6, 12 sc. (48)
Round 20: [6 sc, dec] x 6. (42)
Round 21: [5 sc, dec] x 6. (36)
Round 22: [4 sc, dec] x 6. (30)
Round 23: [3 sc, dec] x 6. (24)
Stuff the head firmly. Push the fiberfill deeply into the cheek pockets you created in Round 15.
Round 24: [2 sc, dec] x 6. (18)
Round 25: [1 sc, dec] x 6. (12)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for assembly.
The Sprite’s Elf Ears (Make 2)
Round 1: 4 sc in MR. (4)
Round 2: [1 sc, inc] x 2. (6)
Round 3: [2 sc, inc] x 2. (8)
Round 4: [3 sc, inc] x 2. (10)
Round 5: 10 sc. (10)
Fasten off. Do not stuff. Pinch flat.
The Hair Cap and Cascading Strands
Using Rust Orange yarn.
Rounds 1-8: Repeat Rounds 1-8 of the Head. (48)
Round 9: [7 sc, inc] x 6. (54)
Rounds 10-14: 54 sc. (54)
We now create the strands. The transition to green happens by changing yarn midway down the longest chains.
Bangs (Make 10): Ch 21. Starting in 2nd ch from hook, 20 sc down the ch. Sl st into the next st on the cap.
Long Locks (Make 44): Ch 41 in Rust Orange. Switch to Moss Green for the final 10 chains. Starting in 2nd ch from hook, 40 sc down the ch (carrying the color change). Sl st into the next st on the cap.
Fasten off.
Legs and Torso Base
We construct this as one solid piece for structural superiority.

Round 6: 5 sc, 4 dec, 5 sc. (14)
Round 7: Change to Forest Green. 14 sc. (14)
Rounds 8-10: 14 sc. (14)
Fasten off. Stuff the shoe firmly.
Leg 2:
Repeat Rounds 1-10 for Leg 1, but do NOT fasten off. Stuff the shoe.
The Join:
Round 11: Ch 2 from Leg 2. Insert hook into the last stitch of Leg 1. 14 sc around Leg 1. 2 sc across the ch. 14 sc around Leg 2. 2 sc across the opposite side of the ch. (32)
Rounds 12-14: 32 sc. (32)
Round 15: [6 sc, dec] x 4. (28)
Round 16: 28 sc. (28)
Round 17: In BLO, 28 sc. (28)
We leave the front loops exposed here to anchor the skirt later.
Round 18: [5 sc, dec] x 4. (24)
Round 19: 24 sc. (24)
Round 20: [2 sc, dec] x 6. (18)
Round 21: [1 sc, dec] x 6. (12)

Assembly Protocol
Precision is paramount. Follow these directives exactly.
Using surface crochet and embroidery, add tiny green vines and mustard yellow cross-stitches (blossoms) to the front of the green dress.
Sew the head to the exposed R21 of the torso. Whipstitch firmly through every single stitch.
Sew the elf ears to the sides of the head, aligning them strictly between Rounds 13 and 15.
Sew the hair cap onto the head. The front edge should sit directly above Round 8.
Attach the arms to the sides of the torso at Round 20.
Position the pointed hat on the head at a slight angle. Tack it down with a few discrete stitches.
Sew the leaves and toadstools to the base of the hat brim.
