Chubby Velvet Kitten Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

This project is engineered for maximum visual impact. We utilize a distinct 60/40 body-to-head ratio to achieve that universally appealing juvenile proportion. The velvet yarn requires strict tension control. Loose stitches will compromise the structural integrity of the oversized head.

Pause your work here. We must install the visual anchor. Insert the 12mm safety eyes between Round 14 and Round 15. Ensure they are spaced exactly 9 stitches apart. This low, wide placement is non-negotiable for the aesthetic.

Round 21: [sc 4, dec] x 6. (30)

Assembly and Detailing

➡️ Mount the Head: Pin the final round of the body to Round 23 of the head. Whipstitch through both layers, pulling the yarn tight after every stitch.

➡️ Attach the Legs: Pin the legs to the bottom of the body between Round 4 and Round 7. Sew them securely so they point slightly outward.

➡️ Attach the Arms: Sew the flattened tops of the arms to the sides of the body at Round 16 and Round 17, just below the neck seam.

➡️ Attach the Ears: Pin the ears to the top of the head across Round 4 through Round 8. They should align vertically with the safety eyes. Sew securely.

➡️ Attach the Tail: Sew the tail to the lower back of the body at Round 5.

➡️ Embroider Facial Features: Using black embroidery floss, stitch a small triangular nose directly between the eyes across Round 14 and Round 15. Create a ‘W’ shaped mouth directly below the nose. Sew two straight whiskers on each cheek angled outward. Stitch small, angled eyebrows over each eye at Round 11.

➡️ Head Stripes: Using the dark grey yarn, embroider three vertical stripes on the top center of the head, spanning from Round 2 down to Round 6.
