This project merges the organic textures of a kiwi fruit with the classic silhouette of a bat. The aesthetic relies on stark color contrasts between the vibrant greens and the grounding dark brown. We avoid sharp points entirely. Every element, from the scalloped wings to the tiny feet, is engineered to evoke softness and charm.

The Wings (Make 2) Begin with vibrant green yarn for the webbing.

Fasten off the green. Attach dark brown yarn to the starting corner to create the scalloped frame.
Border: sc across the top straight edge. At the corner point, work (1 sc, ch 1, 1 sc). sc down the angled edge. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Using your yarn needle and dark brown yarn, surface slip stitch or embroider three straight lines radiating from the top center down to the bottom edge to create the wing bones.
The Neck Collar Use dark brown yarn. Work in rows.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. The heavy increases will force the fabric to curl naturally into a thick ruffle.
The Feet (Make 2) Use dark brown yarn. Work in continuous rounds.
Round 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6)

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing. Do not stuff.
Final Assembly
➡️ Align the head and body. Sew together round by round using the vibrant green tail.
➡️ Center the Kiwi Belly Patch on the front of the body, sitting just above Round 2. Sew the outer edges down securely.
➡️ Pinch the base of each ear slightly and sew them to the top of the head, spanning Rounds 4 through 8.
➡️ Wrap the Neck Collar around the seam where the head meets the body. Stitch the two ends together securely at the back.
➡️ Position the wings on either side of the body, just behind the collar line. Sew the vertical edge of the wings directly to the body.
➡️ Flatten the open ends of the feet and sew them to the bottom front of the body, aligning them with the lower curve of the belly patch.
