This project captures the pure essence of a classic, gentle Halloween character. By employing a 70/30 ratio between the head and body, we evoke an immediate sense of youthful charm. The defining features—her bright orange braids contrasting against the stark black hat, and the rounded, chubby shaping of her cheeks—elevate this from a simple toy to a true artisan display piece.

The Hair (Bright Orange)
Cut approximately 40 strands of orange yarn, each about 12 inches long.
Using your crochet hook, attach the strands via the latch hook method down a center part on the top of the head, beginning at Round 1 and ending at Round 10.
Divide the attached yarn evenly into two sections, one on each side of the face. Braid each section tightly.
Tie the end of each braid with a small piece of orange yarn, and trim the bottom sharply to form neat, uniform tassels.
Assembly
➡️ Thread the long tail from the head onto your needle. Sew the head to the neck opening of the body, matching the 12 stitches of each piece. Pull tight and secure.
➡️ Sew the top flat edges of the arms to the sides of the body directly at Round 20, keeping them symmetrical.
➡️ Affix the small black bow to the front center of the dress at Round 17. You may sew it on with black thread or use a drop of fabric glue.
➡️ Settle the hat atop the head. You may leave it loose to be removable, or stitch it down to the head securely around Round 12 of the hat base.
Now that the pattern is complete, we must prepare to capture its beauty.
