This project leans heavily into the architectural side of crochet. Rather than working flat panels, we construct five individual points in the round. These are then united in a single, continuous joining round to form the main body. This method guarantees structural integrity while allowing for the distinct, chubby curves that give this design its characteristic charm. The deep burnt orange hue provides visual warmth, anchored beautifully by the dark brown, tightly structured feet.

The Pattern
Top Central Point (Make 1)
R1: 6 sc in mr (6)
R2: [1 sc, inc] 3 times (9)
R3: [2 sc, inc] 3 times (12)
R4: [3 sc, inc] 3 times (15)
R5: 15 sc (15)
Fasten off and weave in the end securely.
Upper Side Points (Make 2)
R1: 6 sc in mr (6)
R2: [1 sc, inc] 3 times (9)
R3: [2 sc, inc] 3 times (12)
R4: 12 sc (12)
Fasten off both pieces and weave in the ends.
Lower Side Points (Make 2)
R1: 6 sc in mr (6)
R2: [1 sc, inc] 3 times (9)
R3: 9 sc (9)
Fasten off the first Lower Side Point. Do not fasten off the second Lower Side Point; this will act as the anchor for our joining round.
The Main Body (Seamless Joinery)
Arrange your pieces in order: Lower Side, Upper Side, Top Central, Upper Side, Lower Side. We will now join them into one continuous round.
R1: Continuing from the second Lower Side Point on your hook, sc 4. Insert hook into an Upper Side Point and sc 6. Insert hook into the Top Central Point and sc 7. Insert hook into the second Upper Side Point and sc 6. Insert hook into the first Lower Side Point and sc 9 (around the entire piece). Now, work down the unworked opposite sides: sc 6 on the second Upper Side Point, sc 8 on the Top Central Point, sc 6 on the first Upper Side Point, and sc 5 on the starting Lower Side Point. (57)
R2-R3: 57 sc (57)
R4: [17 sc, invdec] 3 times (54)
R5: 54 sc (54)
R6: [7 sc, invdec] 6 times (48)
R7: 48 sc (48)
R8: [6 sc, invdec] 6 times (42)
R9: 42 sc (42)
R10: [5 sc, invdec] 6 times (36)
R11: 36 sc (36)
R12: [4 sc, invdec] 6 times (30)
R13-R14: 30 sc (30)
Pause to insert the 12mm safety eyes. Place them precisely between R13 and R14, leaving 8 stitches of space between them to capture that wide, innocent gaze. Embroider a small, gentle smile one round below the eyes, centered directly between them. Begin stuffing the points firmly, taking care to push the fiberfill into the tips.
R15: [3 sc, invdec] 6 times (24)
R16: [2 sc, invdec] 6 times (18)
R17: [1 sc, invdec] 6 times (12)
Finish stuffing the main body firmly.
R18: 6 invdec (6)
Fasten off. Thread the tail through the front loops of the remaining 6 stitches, pull tight to close the opening, and weave in the end.
Stem Base / Chubby Feet (Make 2)
Using Dark Brown yarn.
R1: 6 sc in mr (6)
R2: 6 inc (12)
R3-R4: 12 sc (12)
R5: 6 invdec (6)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff these pieces very lightly, just enough to hold a rounded shape.
Assembly
➡️ Positioning the Feet: Pin the two dark brown feet to the very bottom center of the main body, directly over rounds 17 and 18. They should sit side-by-side, touching in the middle, creating a sturdy base that resembles a split stem.
➡️ Securing the Base: Using your tapestry needle and the long brown yarn tails, sew the feet securely to the main body. Ensure your stitches go cleanly through both the foot and the body fabric to anchor them tightly, pulling taut to maintain a crisp, professional finish.
