- 1 egg
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

For the creamy mushroom sauce:
- 2 cans (10.5 oz each) condensed cream of mushroom soup

- ½ cup beef broth
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms, fresh or canned
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp dried thyme, optional
Instructions
- Prepare the oven.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. - Make the hamburger steaks.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, diced onion, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix gently just until everything is combined. Avoid overmixing so the patties stay tender. - Shape the patties.
Divide the mixture into 6–8 portions and shape each into a thick oval or round patty. Place them in the prepared baking dish in a single layer. - Make the mushroom gravy.
In a bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and thyme until smooth. - Add the mushrooms.
Scatter the sliced mushrooms and sliced onion over and around the hamburger steaks. - Pour over the sauce.
Slowly pour the creamy mushroom mixture over the patties, making sure each one is generously covered. - Bake.
Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for about 35 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 10–15 minutes, or until the hamburger steaks are cooked through and the sauce is bubbling around the edges. - Check for doneness.
Ground beef should reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C). - Rest and serve.
Let the hamburger steaks rest for about 5 minutes before serving. Spoon plenty of the creamy mushroom gravy over each patty.
