This project is a masterclass in the 60/40 structural ratio. By intentionally engineering an oversized, spherical head atop a petite, rounded body, we capture a youthful charm that draws the eye. The magic lies entirely in the details. Notice how the cascading corkscrew curls add substantial volume, while the structured, half-double crochet skirt provides a crisp, flared silhouette without adding unnecessary weight to her core. We will even craft the tiny strawberry cross-body bag to complete her woodland aesthetic.

The Pattern
The Head
Using Peach yarn.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
Round 2: 6 inc (12)
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)
Round 4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)

Round 8: (6 sc, inc) x 6 (48)
Round 9: (7 sc, inc) x 6 (54)
Rounds 10-20: 54 sc around (54)
Artisan’s Note: Insert the safety eyes securely between Rounds 14 and 15, ensuring they are exactly 9 stitches apart. This low, wide placement is non-negotiable for achieving her sweet expression. Begin stuffing the head firmly, molding it into a perfect sphere.
Round 21: (7 sc, dec) x 6 (48)
Round 22: (6 sc, dec) x 6 (42)
Round 23: (5 sc, dec) x 6 (36)
Round 24: (4 sc, dec) x 6 (30)
Round 25: (3 sc, dec) x 6 (24)
Round 26: (2 sc, dec) x 6 (18)
Round 27: (sc, dec) x 6 (12)
Fasten off and finish stuffing the head firmly.
The Legs (Make 2)
Start with Light Brown yarn.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)

Change to Peach yarn.
Round 6: BLO 15 sc (15)
Rounds 7-12: 15 sc around (15)
Fasten off the first leg. Stuff lightly. Make the second leg, but do not fasten off.
The Body
Continuing from the second leg with Peach yarn.
Round 13: Chain 3, then insert your hook into the first leg. 15 sc around the first leg, 3 sc across the chain, 15 sc around the second leg, 3 sc across the opposite side of the chain (36)
Rounds 14-17: 36 sc around (36)
Change to Cream yarn.
Round 18: 36 sc around (36)
Round 19: BLO 36 sc around (36) We are leaving the front loops exposed here to attach the skirt later.
Round 20: 36 sc around (36)
Round 21: (4 sc, dec) x 6 (30)
Rounds 22-23: 30 sc around (30)
Round 24: (3 sc, dec) x 6 (24)
Rounds 25-26: 24 sc around (24)
Round 27: (2 sc, dec) x 6 (18)
Round 28: (sc, dec) x 6 (12)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff the body firmly.
The Skirt
Hold the body upside down and join Cream yarn to the first exposed front loop of Round 19.
Round 1: Chain 2, then work 1 hdc inc in every stitch around (72)
Rounds 2-6: 72 hdc around (72)
Fasten off and weave in the ends. The hdc stitches naturally create a flared, pleated structure.

Using Peach yarn.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
Round 2: (2 sc, inc) x 2 (8)
Rounds 3-12: 8 sc around (8)

The Hair Cap and Curls
Using Cream yarn.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
Round 2: 6 inc (12)
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)
Round 4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)
Round 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30)
Round 6: (4 sc, inc) x 6 (36)
Round 7: (5 sc, inc) x 6 (42)
Round 8: (6 sc, inc) x 6 (48)
Round 9: (7 sc, inc) x 6 (54)

Now we create the curls.

Assembly
- Sew the Head directly onto the open neck hole of the Body. Ensure the face is pointed perfectly forward, aligned with the feet.
- Sew the Arms flat against the sides of the Body, exactly at Round 27 of the bodice.
- Position the Hair Cap snugly over the top of the head. Sew the rim of the cap down securely. Allow the curls to fall naturally over her shoulders.
- Arrange the 7 White Spots randomly across the Red Mushroom Hat. Sew them down flat. The hat can be left loose or tacked gently to the top of her hair.
- Drape the Strawberry Bag diagonally across her body, letting the little red berry rest against her hip.
- Using Black embroidery thread, stitch a tiny straight line for the nose exactly between the eyes, one round below the center line. Stitch slanted, delicate eyebrows three rounds above the eyes. Add a gentle, curved red smile just beneath the nose. Apply soft pink blush heavily beneath the eyes and across the center of the face.
