A warm welcome back to the atelier. It is a joy to have you here as we transform a vibrant fruit into a charming companion. This project captures the essence of a pitaya with bold colors and a soft, squishy texture that feels wonderful in your hands. We will focus on precise shaping to create a character that feels alive and full of personality. Let us pick up our hooks and begin this colorful journey together.

About This Creation

This design merges the natural geometry of a dragon fruit with the adorable proportions of a jumping spider. To achieve the signature krocheta.com look, we utilize the “Baby Schema,” giving our spider an oversized head and a compact body. The use of velvet yarn ensures every stitch contributes to a lush, rounded silhouette. The finished project stands approximately 14cm long, making it a substantial yet huggable piece.

Assembly

🪡 Sew the abdomen to the back of the head, ensuring the head’s cheeks are positioned horizontally.

🪡 Attach four legs to each side of the body. The first pair should sit just behind the cheeks, with subsequent legs spaced evenly toward the back.

🪡 Sew the pink cheeks directly below the outer edges of the larger eyes.

🪡 Arrange the scales across the top of the magenta abdomen. Place three in a row near the head and three staggered behind them to mimic fruit skin.

🪡 Using black embroidery thread, add small vertical “seed” stitches across the white head and sew a small ‘v’ shaped mouth between the eyes.
